Lorena Gregory

Lorena Messer Gregory, 93 of East Cope Creek Community passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Skyland Care Center in Sylva. She was the last surviving member of the Charlie and Hannah Messer family. Mrs. Gregory was a native of Jackson County having lived there all of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gregory. Surviving are five daughters: Geraldine Dockins, Mary Sue Burns, Frankie Burrell, Helen G. Langston, Charlotte Bailey; and one son, Henry Gregory, Jr. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services at 2:00 pm on August 6, with Eddie Stillwell and Avery Brown officiating. The family will receive friends 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Watauga Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin.
