Lonella Lorenne Wike

Lonella Lorenne Wike, age 94, of Cullowhee died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at her home. Lonella was born June 12, 1921 in Easley, SC. She is the daughter of the late Conan and the late Eliza (Owens) Hooper. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard Hayes Wike; two brothers, Tilman Hooper and Wallace Hooper; and two sons, Wayne and Dewey Wike. She is survived by: Richard Dean and Brenda Wike of Sylva; Ray and Pat Wike; Irene Wike, Gladys and Walter Webb, all of Cullowhee, Sandra and Reed Heatherly of Sylva, and Lois and Donnie Stiles of Cullowhee; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was a homemaker who loved sitting on her porch and watching nature. She loved singing and dancing, her family, animals, and her garden. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, August 17 at Appalachian Funeral Services, Rev. Jeff Powell officiating. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Burial will be in Wike Cemetery, Cullowhee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wike Cemetery, 7730 Bridle Court, Charlotte, NC 28216.
