Lloyd Stanley Rice, age 72, a native of Cashiers, N.C., son of Edd and Gracie Burrell Rice, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 17, 2016 after an extended illness. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Ruby Rice, Eversie Rice, Leroy Rice, Edward "Buck" Rice, Bobbie "Junie" Rice McCall, Earvin Rice and Charlie Rice.
Lloyd retired from the Jackson County Building Inspection Department as an electrical inspector. He brought a smile to your face, a gentle and sensitive man who loved God, his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include long time loving companion, Sherry Pell White; daughters, Joy (Michael) Connelly, and Beverly (Tony) Bryson; sister, Betty Henson; two grandchildren, Shea Lusk and Nicholas Smith; three great grandchildren, Kay Lusk, Hannah Winkler, and Makaelynn Smith; as well as many nephews and nieces. Special thanks go to Misty Berry, Nancy Rice, and Melissa Ledford for their love and support.
Services will be held at the Cashiers Baptist Church on Thursday, January 21 at 200 pm with Rev. Johnny Norris and Rev. Felix Villarreal officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Upper Zachary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one's favorite charity in memory of Lloyd. Pallbearers will be: Nicholas Smith, Charlie Henson, Brandon Henson, Tommy McCall, Stephen Rice, and Nathan Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Extine and B. Bryson.
