Linda Parris Gunter

Linda Parris Gunter went home to be with the Lord on January 10th 2025 after an extended illness. Linda was a lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was born on July 22nd 1947 and was the daughter of the late Earl Parris and Rosa Mae Sellers.

Linda was a loving, kind and sweet person who cared for everyone. Everyone who knew Linda knew of her kind and compassionate heart and knew she was the sweetest soul you could meet. Linda loved her family, her church, animals, and had a heart for helping others. Through her church Buff Creek Baptist she was very involved in delivering snacks and other items to the patients at Messino Cancer Center as well as participating in other church activities.

She will be greatly missed by all of those around her.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Ray Gunter, and her brother Ervin Eugene (Gene) Parris.

She is survived by her two sons Billy Ray Gunter (Jennifer), and Ray Michael Gunter Jr. (Pamela), four grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a half brother.

The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm on Thursday January 16th with funeral services following. Receiving friends and services will be held at Appalachian Funeral Home, with the Reverend David Burch and the Reverend Kent Lowdermilk officiating.

Burial and graveside service will take place following the funeral at Gunter Cemetery in Whittier.
