Lille Nungezer Plumer, Pharm.D, died in Cullowhee, North Carolina, on September 16, 2018. For her professional career she was most proud of being the pharmacist Dr. Plumer at Duke Hospital. To her many friends and family, she was simply Lil.
After her retirement from Duke, Lil rediscovered her love of music. She became an accomplished musician and frequent performer on the dulcimer, as well as other stringed instruments including guitar and ukulele. She was always looking forward to the next festival, jam or performance and most importantly being with the people she had met and grown to love.
For the last five years she worked with the Jackson County Arts Council after school music program (JAM) sharing her love of music with children. She was extremely proud of the JAM kids.
Lil believed that death in this world is stepping through a door to a better world. She expected to be greeted by her family and friends that went before her. She will be waiting to greet family and friends that make this journey after her.
Lil was born on March 19, 1949, in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Lille and George Nungezer. She attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, receiving Bachelor and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees. Lil married Bruce Plumer on February 12, 1983.
Lil made her homes in Durham and Cullowhee, North Carolina, with her husband, Bruce Plumer, who survives her. Other family members surviving her include her brother, George Nungezer and wife Carol and son Ian, cousin Jackie Floyd and husband Anthony, Cousin Tina Bailey and her husband Mark, cousin Anthony Floyd Jr. and his wife Terry and children Sarah and Olivia, cousin Carol Horne whom she thought of as a sister and her son Jamie, mother-in-law Peggy Plumer, and brother-in-laws, Wayne and his wife Elaine, and Derald and his wife Abby and their children Sam and Ben.
