Lt. Col. M. Bruce Edwards US Army Retired, 69 years old, passed away on Sunday April 30, 2018 with his “Babe” and dear friend, Laurie Abadessa by his side after a brief illness. Bruce was born in Trinidad Tobago and was a graduate from the University of Florida with a Masters Degree. During his 21 years in the Army he was an Airborne Ranger, Jumpmaster, Field Artillery Officer and Adjutant General Officer.
After retirement he was a scuba diving instructor, JROTC instructor, published author and played Conductor on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, a job he truly enjoyed as well as writing and building his own model railroad at home.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Louise Edwards. He leaves behind his wife, Lynn; two daughters, Katherine White and husband Matthew, Tara Lewis and husband Erwin Brian; two sons, Samuel Edwards and wife Amy, Mitchell Edwards and wife Bridget; four grandchildren, Lily, Jack, Ava and Gabe; a brother, Steve Edwards and a sister, Frances.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 7th at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Colin Shaw officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, May 6th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Service. After the viewing family and friends can gather at the family home located 1380 US Hwy 19A, Whittier. Burial will follow the service Monday at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
