Larry Delano Lynch, 67, of Webster, North Carolina passed away on April 21, 2016, at Pisgah Manor Skilled Care Rehabilitation Center in Candler, North Carolina. He was born in Rutherfordton, North Carolina on October 8, 1948, to Woodrow and Elsie Lynch.
Larry was an active member of the Sylva and Western Carolina University communities, and enjoyed lifting his voice as a member of the First United Methodist Church Choir. He loved God, his family and friends, golf, college sports, travel, and sharing his interest in good food. After serving in the United States Army, Larry graduated from Appalachian State University in 1976. He then enjoyed a long career in the furniture industry with positions in sales and marketing.
After moving to Jackson County in 2000, Larry participated and supported many activities on the Western Carolina University campus. He enjoyed membership in the Western Carolina University's Catamount Club and Friends of the Arts. With his wife, Dianne, a scholarship was endowed in 2015 for a student in Western Carolina University's College of Business.
Larry is survived by his wife, Dianne; his daughters, Ashley (Jeff) Beckett of Knoxville, Tennessee and Allyson (Scott) Hartley of Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania; stepson Matt (Jennifer) Cook of Apex, North Carolina; 7 grandchildren: Madeline, Sara and Simon Beckett, Baby Boy Hartley (due June 1), and Parker, Hunter and Ben Cook; brother-in-law Cecil Crain of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; and the mother of his daughters, Mary Carson.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the entire staff and administration at Pisgah Manor for the outstanding care Larry received while there. These amazing professionals enriched the lives of both Dianne and Larry during a difficult time.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church in Sylva on Sunday, April 24. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider memorial donations to the Dianne and Larry Lynch Endowment Scholarship at Western Carolina University. Checks payable to the Western Carolina University Foundation should be mailed to Western Carolina University, 201 HFR Building, Cullowhee, North Carolina 28723.
