Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let the sea and what fills it resound, let the plains be joyful and all that is in them. Then let all the trees of the forest rejoice before the Lord who comes. Ps 96:11-12
Kathryn Jean Trull, age 71, entered eternal life Thursday, November 15th at home, surrounded by much love and her family. Kathryn’s love for family came second only to her deep love of Jesus, which she shared with each of us in turn.
This deep love lingers and is imprinted in our everyday moments; in walking through the woods, collecting a fallen leaf, discovering a hidden bird’s nest (or animal scat), baking cookies (or getting dinner to the table late), when reading books, saying prayers, attending mass. Her love of these things will bring comfort, and her strength to face hardship will echo in our hearts, telling us to “hike up our boots” and to “give it to Jesus” when things get tough.
Her greatest legacy is her desire to see God in each moment, be it in the traditions of the Church and Holy Mass, or by marveling at the work of His hands in the natural world around us. It seems especially fitting that at the time of her last breath “her boys” (grandchildren Nathaniel, Dominic and Andrew) were out in the field planting a maple tree.
She is survived in life by her loving husband John, her children Daniel, Jessica and son-in-law Mark, grandchildren Nathaniel, Dominic, Andrew and James. Also by her mother Mary Jeffers, sister Cheryl Dreyer & family, and Bonnie DeMarco (Mark’s mother).
Vigil will be held at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Sylva on Monday, November 19th from 5:30-7:30 with Rosary at 6:00. In keeping with her joy found in church tradition; a latin rite funeral Mass will be said at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Sylva on Tuesday, November 20th 2018 at 10:30.
Burial will follow at Gwynn Cemetery in Canton, NC.
Kathryn prayed often for our Priests and an increase in vocations. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Saint Joseph's Seminary in Charlotte.
