Kari Elizabeth Queen, age 25, of Sylva died Thursday, September 24, 2015. Miss Queen was born September 15, 1990 in Asheville, NC. She is the daughter of Harold Kirby Queen and Elizabeth (Conley) Barnes. She was predeceased by her great-grandparents, Ferris and Mary Rice; Fred and Frances Conley; Early and Essie Queen; Mary Stephens Bumgarner; and her grandfather, Harold Queen. She had finished her training as a medical assistant. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, Fla. She loved softball, spending time with her family, camping, listening to music and texting. She is survived by her father Harold Kirby and Angie Queen; her mother Elizabeth (Conley) and Todd Barnes; a sister, Tristen Sommer Queen; a step sister, Kendall Shuler; step-brothers, Dillon Shuler, Sam Barnes and D. J. Barnes; a niece, Mylah Sommer Rhinehart; and many cousins. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, September 28 at Appalachian Funeral Services, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC with Rev. Joe Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in Fairivew Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 28 from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services And Crematorium. .
