Karanne (Kandy) Tucker, 71, of Waynesville, formerly of Sylva, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018. She was born at Asheville Mission Hospital on October 10, 1947 to her parents, Sgt. George N. and Julia Anderson Garland.
Her childhood was spent on Marine and Naval bases. She graduated from Havelock North Carolina High School and Mars Hill College. She and her husband moved to Sylva in 1970 and she began work at Western Carolina University as an administrative assistant, retiring in 2000. She enjoyed her work and also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crafts. She loved hiking and the outdoors.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Larry Tucker
Her daughter Kerrie Elizabeth Tucker of Sylva.
Also surviving are her mother Julia Garland and one sister, Sharanne Murphy (Timothy) both of Brunswick, Georgia
Her father-in-law, Paul Tucker of Lexington, NC, sisters-in-law, Beverly (Steve) Benfield of Raleigh and Sherry (Bryant) Gobble of Spencer, NC
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family gathering will be planned at a later date.
