Judy Mills, age 72, of Sylva died unexpectedly Sunday, March 13, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Reva Mills, and son, Kevin Waldroop. She is survived by her brother, Jimmy Mills and sister Dottie Gray, both of Nashville,TN, and sister Linda Mills of Greensboro, and several nieces and nephews.
An avid lover of the arts and an extremely talented interior designer, Judy traveled the world rendering her talent. She helped design and decorate the homes of many prominent families in the Atlanta area. She completed her career by teaching and sharing her knowledge of interior design before returning back to Jackson County. Once back home, Judy reconnected with old friends and made many new, lifelong friendships. She shared her heart and life experiences with so many people in their journey through grief, sickness and/or addiction. She was a beacon for so many! Judy recently began investigating the genealogy of generations of ancestors from Jackson County.
A celebration of Judy’s amazing life will be held 12:30-3:30pm, remarks will start at 2:00 pm, on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Poteet Park Pavilion in Sylva, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donating to the Jackson County Animal Shelter, ARF (Humane Society of Jackson County) or CatMan2 in remembrance of her love for animals, especially her loyal companion Milo and other precious pets.
