Judith Funderburk Forbis

Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. On July 28, 2023, Judith F. Forbis rejoined her heavenly family and gained her wings after a long battle with chronic illnesses; she was 68 years old.
It would be wrong to say that Judy lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. She was always determined, no matter how tired or sick she was. When anyone else would have broken, Judy stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience, perseverance, and positivity truly look like. There was no quit in Judy. Just because she is no longer here doesn’t mean she lost her fight.
Judy graduated from Central Piedmont Community College School as a Registered Nurse on June 17, 1977. Unfortunately, she could only pursue her passion for two short years before being diagnosed with a chronic illness. Ronnie and Judy lived and farmed in South Carolina before moving to Jackson County in 2013 to retire and be closer to their family; especially her beloved grandsons. “Grammy” loved all things yellow, tending to her flowers, collecting pigs, making delicious food for her family, sewing, watching her “boys” ball games, reading, camping in the beautiful mountains, and all creatures great and small.  
Judy is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 45 years, Ronnie; her son Michael and wife Sarah; grandsons Mason, Grant, and Landon; her sister Susan Carpenter and husband, Steve Carpenter. Her family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations may made to the National Kidney Foundation or to the NC Nurse Honor Guard at 2510 Mountain Grove Road, Franklin NC 28734.

 A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday August 3, 2023 at Sylva First United Methodist Church.  The family will receive friends from 1;00 until 2:00 prior to the Service at the Church
