Juanita Brooks

Juanita Brooks, age 87 of Sylva NC, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022.   She was born on June 7, 1935, in Jackson County, to the late Nelson. and Lillie (McMahan) Wykle. 

Juanita was a wonderful cook.  She loved to prepare meals for her family.  She also enjoyed quilting and dancing the 2-step to her favorite bluegrass music.

She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Bruce; daughter, Kathy Buchanan; stepsons, Charles Brooks, Bobby Brooks, Lewis (Patricia) Bradley, Jr.; sisters, Mildred (Keith) Cabe, Hester Wykle; grandchildren, Scott (Laura) Buchanan, Dustin (Trish) Buchanan, Jason (Elizabeth) Buchanan, Travis Buchanan; seven great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Thelma Hodgins; and son-in-law, Ronnie Buchanan.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00PM on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at Appalachian Funeral Services, Sylva NC. A Graveside Service will follow visitation at Old Savannah Cemetery. Rev. Mike Fox, officiating.
