Joyce Dean Wood Adams, 81, of Sylva passed away at mission hospital on Thursday, October 21, 2021 after a brief illness.
Born March 9th 1940 to Dell and Cora Lowe Wood of the Caney Fork community where she lived until she married Carl Adams March 31, 1962, and made her home in the Locust Creek Community. Known fondly as Fuzzy, she worked in various sewing plants and at The Sylva Herald office. Her best job was being the wife of an ordained minister and pastors wife. She rarely missed a service with Carl unless she was sick. She always felt it was her job to support him and that she did. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, one brother Billie and two sisters Hilda Fisher and Jackie Brown.
Surviving are her husband Rev. Carl Adams, one brother Cooter Wood and Sister Priscilla (Sally) Brown both of Sylva. Also surviving is her sister in law Gladys Mills of Sylva. Her pride and joys were her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Aunt Fuzzy will always hold such a special place in their hearts.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 3:00pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. The Revs Marcus Owen, Mark Styles, and Avery Brown will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at The New Hope Baptist Church cemetery.
