Joy Phillips Hoyle, 74, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday August 25, 2019. A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, Joy was the daughter of the late Ransom and Leah Phillips. Joy was a Member of Central Haywood Church of Christ. She wrote and published two books; Beneath the Balsams and Handed down, passed around. She loved getting to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her 3 brothers; Weldon, Kay and Warren Phillips.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years Bill Hoyle
Her children; Kenny Hoyle (Theresa) of Ohio and Tammy Millsaps (Roger) of Bryson City
4 Grandchildren- Daniel Parris, Becca Winchester, Wade and Leah Hoyle
2 Great Grandchildren- Kyleigh and Coy Winchester
1 Sister- June Cabe of Sylva
and a special little friend Jasper
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday August 28, 2019 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Minister Jeff Arnette officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Blanton-Hoyle Cemetery.
