John “Boogie” Edwin Orcutt Jr., 59, of Sylva, died Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Haywood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesville, NC.
Boogie was a native of West Palm Beach, FL, and a resident of Jackson County for the past 36 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and considered a true “Grill Master” by friends and family – sharing his savory finger-licking, lip-smacking chicken and ribs with everyone, and the first to invite a complete stranger to dinner.
Boogie was the fourth child, and the first son, of the late Connie M. and John E. Orcutt, Sr. He is survived by five sisters, Deborah (Mark) Dammer of Bloomington, IN, Barbara Hooper of Sylva, Sharon (Reggie) Merritt of Berlin, Ga, Janet Orcutt of Sylva, and Pam Reid of Concord; one brother, Charles R. (Christina) Orcutt of West Jordan, UT; eight nieces; five nephews; and seventeen great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will celebrate his life with a private memorial service. Appalachian Funeral Services is serving the family of Mr. Orcutt.
