Joe H Ginn

Joe H Ginn, age 72, of Sylva died Friday, July 20, 2012 at Skyland Care Center. Joe was born September 20, 1939 in Jackson County, NC. He is the son of the late Allen Hamilton Ginn and the late Alva (Carden) Ginn. He married Marilou Rogers. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and was involved with music all his life. He worked in the history department at Western Carolina University. He was a member of the WCU community chorus and served as musical director in numerous churches, the Sylva First Baptist Church and the Cullowhee Methodist Church, locally. He is survived by his wife: Marilou (Rogers) Ginn ; one daughter, Lynette Mount of Sylva; one son, Jeff Ginn of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Richard and Tommy Ginn, both of Sylva; one sister, Susan Swan of Asheville; five grandchildren, Bill and Wes Jamison, Brynn Throgmorton, Clay and Corbin Ginn; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 23 at 7:00 pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. . .
