Jimmie Sue (Cabe) Jones, age 75, of Sylva died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Harris Regional Hospital. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, Mrs. Jones was born April 27, 1940. She is the daughter of the late James Wiley and the late Lillie Sue (Deitz) Cabe. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Ray Jones; a daughter, Jacinta Sharon Jones; two sisters, Emery Naomi Cabe and Alice Abramson; and a brother, James Porter Cabe. She worked as a tax assessor in the Jackson County Tax Office. She was a member of the Old Savannah Church, she loved working, meeting and greeting people. She loved being a democrat and was active in the party. She loved her family, UNC basketball, NASCAR and camping. She was a pioneer in advocating for the rights of special needs children in public schools. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Rae Jones and Mark Husted. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, January 25 at Appalachian Funeral Services with Revs. Johnny Norris, Jason Buchanan, and Travis Buchanan officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 pm at the funeral home. . .
