Jessie Louise Moss Holland

Jessie Moss Holland, of the Mill Creek community, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 22, 2024. She was born October 14, 1948, to Dollie Jennings and spent her childhood in the Pine Creek community with her maternal grandmother, Dovie.

 Jessie was preceded in death by the love of her life, Mack Holland.

 As one of the last pillars of the old Pine Creek community she imparted knowledge about vegetable gardening, canning, farming and the old ways to her three sons; Michael (Karen),Ricky (BJ) and Tim. Not content to stop there, however, she took hold of her grandchildren andput them right in middle of learning the ways, too; Marie (Journey), Matthew, Travis (Cameron),Aimee (Frankie), Toby, Jynnah (John), and Emma (Vontay). Spring and Summer days were spent outside cultivating the garden, picking berries and working on a chicken coop until the sun went down. Then the front porch swing beckoned and she would sit there until dusk faded into night. She greatly loved having her family beside her and was known to keep them all in line with just a look.

 She worked for years in the sewing plant and began housekeeping for select families in the area. She helped Mack build up and run Holland’s General Home Repair for years. She and Mack spent their remaining years happy on their hill in Mill Creek.

 In addition to her 3 sons she is survived by 5 great-grandchildren, Jason, Jacob, Luke, Bridgette, and Analina. She leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 There was not a harder worker and fiercer family advocate than Jessie. She will be remembered for her strength, her love for the Lord and her devotion. She will be missed immensely.

 The family will have a visitation on January 4, 2025, from 1pm-2pm at Yellow Mountain Baptist Church with a memorial service to follow. A private burial will take place at Pine Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
