Janie Ruth Hornaday

Janie Ruth Hornaday, 93, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Janie was born on October 14, 1930 to the late John and Bessie Crawford Moses. She enjoyed spending time with her family, swimming, and reading The Jack Tales. Janie was a member of Mount Hebron Wesleyan Church.

Janie is survived by her daughters, Vicki Lewis and Lori Mayfield (Earl); grandchildren, Jamie Lewis, John Lewis, Jeff Lewis, Erica Hornaday; great-grandchildren, Amanda Cook (Tyler), Joshua Lewis (Wendy), Bella Hornaday; two great great-grandchildren; brothers, William Bruce Moses, Glen Ray Moses, Terry Moses. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Janie is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Milton Eugene Hornaday; son-in-law, James Edward Lewis; brothers Tommy Moses and Clifford Moses.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 6, 2024 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services. Greta Walker Fletcher will be officiating. Burial will follow at Cullowhee Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
