Janice Holt

Janice Holt, age 58, of Webster died Thursday, November 1, 2012. Janice was born October 5, 1954 in Sylva, NC. She is the daughter of the late Harrell and Phoebe (Revis) Hooper. Janice taught for many years at Fairview Elementary School in Sylva, and was a faculty member at Western Carolina University, where she received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sylva. She loved teaching and education, enjoyed both the mountains and the beach, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband: Bob ; her mother Phoebe (Revis) Hooper; two sons, Adam Holt of Cullowhee and David Holt of Franklin; two sisters, Dianne Chadwick of Clyde and Cindy Beuger of Charlotte; and six grandchildren, Lillian, Josiah, A. J., Addison, Alyvia, and Alizabeth. The funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church of Sylva on Sunday, November 4 at 2:00 pm, with Reverend Jeff Mathis officiating. Burial will be in the Cullowhee Baptist Church Cemetery in Cullowhee. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 on Saturday, November 3 at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva.
