James Hooper, age 59, of Sylva, died Monday, October 10, 2011 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. James was born August 4, 1952 in Jackson County. He is the son of the late Daniel Lee Hooper. James was a retired school teacher, having worked many years in Jackson County. He was a Mason and a member of Glenville Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife: Debbie (Monteith) Hooper; his mother Geneva (Bryson) Hooper; one daughter, Jamie Hilton and husband, Casey, of Sylva and a brother David Hooper and his wife Sandra of Athens, TN. Mother-in-law, Lois Monteith, 3 nephews and 1 niece. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Friday, October 14 at Scotts Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. John Reid, Rev. Mike Farmer, and Rev. Johnny Lee officiating. Burial will be in Old Field Cemetery, Sylva. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 14 from 12 noon until 2:00pm at the church. Pallbearers will be Ken Hinckley, Russell Bryson, Jeremy Cauley, Jonathan Cauley, Bill Harman and Bill Adams.
