James Cecil Aiken, 66, of Cashiers, went home to be with his Lord, Monday September 29, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Jackson County he was the son of the late John Lewis and Margaret Golden Aiken. James was Assistant Chief for the Glenville Cashiers Fire Department for over 20 years. He enjoyed being a father and grandfather and was a friend to anybody and everybody. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers JD and Lewis Aiken and by 3 sisters, Dorothy, Dorris and Darlene.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years June Franks Aiken
2 Daughters- Cecilia Rice and her husband Clyde of Cashiers
Kimberly Hope Aiken of Sapphire
1 Son- James Calvin Aiken and his wife Beneth of Franklin
7 Grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren
1 Sister- Delma Jean Autrey of Sylva
1 Brother- Odell Aiken of Sapphire
Several nieces, nephews and his extended Fire Department family also survive
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday October 2 at Hamburg Baptist Church with the Revs. Nathan Johnson and Johnny Norris officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 12 noon till 2:00 PM prior to the Service at the Church. Burial will follow in Hamburg Cemetery.
