Jack Landon Moore

Jack Landon Moore, 88, of Sylva, NC, went home to be with the Lord on June 22, 2024. He was surrounded by his family and friends in his home. Jack was a native of Jackson County, but traveled the world and lived in various states throughout his career in the military. He was a proud veteran following 21 years of military service in both the US Army and the US Navy. He served our country in the Army during the Korean War and served in the Navy during Vietnam. 

He was proud to be a veteran but even more proud to be a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. He would do anything for his family and was a never-ending source of knowledge, love and great memories for all who knew him.

Jack was born on December 15, 1935, in Jackson County, NC to Bessie and Jess Moore who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Annie Moore, a son Randy Moore, and 3 grandchildren: Brenda Moore, Joshua Moore, John “Ty” Connor as well as 5 brothers and a sister.

Jack is survived in death by his 3 children: Terry (Trina) Moore, Ricky (Christine) Moore, and Marie (Robert) Connor, 5 Grandchildren: Jessica (Charles) Fitzgerald, Kimberly (Waylon) Hawes, Matthew Moore, Stacey Moore, Natalie (Eros) Caputo, 6 Great-grandchildren: Sarah Fitzgerald, Brendan Fitzgerald, Emily Moore, Elijah Hawes, Jeremiah Hawes and Anamaria Caputo and a great-great grandson Jayden Fletcher. He has one surviving brother Albert (Shirley) Moore.

Jack will be remembered on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva NC. Visitation begins at 11:00 am, with funeral services at 12:00, then burial will be following at Old Field Cemetery in Sylva, NC.
