Hugh Morrell Davis

Hugh Morrell Davis, age 77, Sylva, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Med West Harris of Sylva, NC. Mr. Davis was born June 29, 1935 in Buncombe County. He is the son of the late Joe and the late Elba (Ashe) Davis. He married Patricia Nell Dillard. He served in the Navy from 11/08/1957 to 01/11/1962. He was employed by Dayco as a machine operator. He was a Christmas tree farmer, an avid outdoorsman, and loved his family and church. He is survived by his wife: Patricia Nell (Dillard) Davis of the home; a son, Jeffery Scott Davis of Weddington, NC; two daughters, Beverly Lynn Davis and Joy Davis Warren, both of Arden, NC; three sisters, Joanne Moore of Reading, PA, Carolyn Cabe of Sylva, and Susan Winchester of Whittier; and three grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva on Friday, July 20 from 6 until 8 pm. The funeral will be held at New Hope Baptist Church in Sylva on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The reverend Mike Moore and Reverend Ernie Jamison will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the New Hope Church Cemetery Fund. . .
