Helen Sims Clark

Helen Sims Clark of Cullowhee, NC passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the age of 96. She was
born on May 2, 1926, in Helen, GA, to the late Marvin and Molly Fain Sims.

Helen’s family moved to Sylva, NC when she was very young. She graduated from
Sylva High School in 1943.  Helen was a hard worker. She was an employee of Western
Carolina University for almost 30 years. Helen loved to prepare meals, bake cakes, can beans and pickled beets, freeze cream
corn and most of all she loved to crochet. There are hundreds of baby blankets and Afghans in use thanks to Helen.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin & Molly; stepmother Annie; husbands, Odell Pressley and Woodrow Clark; 
sisters, Ruth, Clara and Edith; brother, Johnny and her son, Larry.

She is survived by her brother, Terry Sims; daughter, Peggy Garcia; son, Chet Pressley; 6 grandchildren, (Chris, Jennifer, Josh, Reuben, Morgan and Rachel); 5 great grandchildren, (Grace, Melody, Savannah, Olivia and Audrey); and 3 great great grandchildren, (Emmett, Noah, and Miles).

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00PM, on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at.Appalachian Funeral Services,
165 Skyland Dr Sylva, NC 28779.  A Private Graveside Service for family only will be held later the same day
at Hooper Cemetery in Speedwell.
