Hazel Ina Edwards

Hazel Ina Edwards, age 88, of Sylva died Sunday, March 22, 2015. Hazel was born February 27, 1927 in Jackson County, NC . She is the daughter of the late Walter and the late Illa (Lowe) Jackson. She was a housewife who loved her family and friends. She loved flowers and gardening, cooking and caring for others. She was a Charter member of Lovedale Baptist Church, and had a phone ministry, calling others to check on them daily. In addition to her parents, Hazel was predeceased by one brother, William Garnett Jackson, and two sisters, Louella Jackson Turner and Edith Jackson Beeler. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Roy Robert Edwards; two sons, Robert and Sherrie Edwards of Sylva and Wayne and Suzy Edwards of Maggie Valley; three grandchildren, Lori Farmer of Arden, Andy Edwards of Cullowhee, and Krista Mathis of Dillsboro; 2 great grandchildren, Jake and Stella Farmer; two brothers, Griffin Jackson of Seattle, WA and Bobby Jackson of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 3:00 pm, with the Rev. Mike Farmer and Rev. Mike Shuford officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 until 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
