Grover Eldon Hunter

Grover Eldon Hunter, 82 of Cashiers, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. He was born May 2, 1940, in Jackson County to the late Claude and Sibbie Speed Hunter. Grover was a logger by trade and loved to work with trees. He enjoyed being outdoors and going to flea markets. Grover loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Cashiers Baptist Church.  

Grover is survived by his wife of 51 years, Leola Hunter; daughters, Cindy Fowler (Carlton) and Kristal Hunter; grandchildren, Hunter Fowler, Chloe Fowler, and one great-grandson on the way; sister, Phoebe Queen. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, Grover is preceded in death by 12 siblings.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Cashiers Baptist Church. Rev. Hayward Tomblin and Rev. Scotty Patrick will be officiating. The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Hamburg Cemetery.
