Grover Hall Cabe, 83, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 7, 2017. Born in Jackson County on July 15, 1933, he was the son of the late Loney A. Cabe, Sr., and the late Lilly (Hall) Cabe.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Mary Etta (Brooks) Cabe; one daughter, Karen C. (Tobie) Painter; one grandson, Travis (Gloria) Painter; one granddaughter Kayla (Travis) Holland; 3 great granddaughters Kadence Painter, and Faith & Hope Holland; one brother, Franklin Cabe of Forks, Washington. Multiple nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, Grover was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Jean Cabe; 3 sisters, Jeanette Childers, Ruth Buchanan, & Faye Jones; 3 Brothers, Jim Hamilton Cabe, Loney A. Cabe Jr., and David Lee Cabe.
Grover was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved fishing, camping, mowing lawns, and bee keeping. He worked most of his life in Jackson County Schools as a janitor, in maintenance, and driving school buses.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday July 9, 2017, at 3pm, in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with Rev. Dennis Burrell officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Old Savannah Baptist Church Cemetery, following services.
