Greg Scott, the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend entered his home in heaven on August 1, 2023.
Greg was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of most, who never met a stranger. His greatest passions were passing on his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren, and creating a legacy of strong faith that endures hardships, tragedies, and many times unanswered questions. He will be fondly remembered for his many adventures that began with “ I know a shortcut… “ and his creative spark that allowed him to take a perfect item and make it even more perfect.
Greg was a businessman, a coach, a rancher, an entrepreneur, a land developer, a welder, a knife maker, and a carpenter; but most of all he was a truly devoted and generous friend. The lives he touched were forever changed for the good.
His passing joyfully reunites him with his oldest daughter, Tracy Scott Green, who predeceased him from cancer in 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Scott, of Sylva and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Patrick Patten of Cullowhee; his grandchildren, Chris Carvelli, Megan Souris, Andrew Green, and Keelie Patten; as well as his sisters, Isabel Norton and Susan Featherman, both of Sarasota, Florida.
A service to celebrate Greg‘s life will be held on Sunday, August 6, at 3:00PM at the First Presbyterian Church in Sylva North Carolina. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to the Massey Cancer Center in Richmond, Virginia, or to the American Cancer Society.
