Glenda Ashe Owen, loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and aunt passed away at sunrise suddenly on Saturday morning, April 29 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. She was 64 and self-employed for many years. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, and the treasurer for many years.
Glenda was born in Sylva, NC and was a loving friend to everyone and always put others before herself. She had a fire about her that no one can deny and those she touched have lasting memories of her smile, wit and personality.
She is preceded in death by her Mother Helen Coward Ashe and Father Ennis Wilson Ashe Jr. both of Sylva.
She is survived by her husband Robert Owen of the home, a Daughter Jennifer Norton of Sylva, a Son Daniel Owen of the home, two sisters Yvonne McClure (Ricky) of Sylva and Vera Banks (Rusty) of Franklin, one Brother Charles Ashe (Brandon) of Troutman, NC and a grandson Brady Owen of Sylva who was also her pride and joy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A receiving of Friends will be held on Tuesday, May 2 at 6:00pm at Appalachian Funeral Home followed by a memorial service in the chapel.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Glenda’s memory to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
