Gene Carter

Gene Carter, 90, of Whittier passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018. A native of Florida and a resident of Jackson County for over 40 years, he was the son of the late JE and Grace Park Carter. A member of Whittier United Methodist Church, he was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Carpenters Union for over 50 years. He was also a building superintendent up until his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting and was cherished by his family and Church family. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his daughter; Bonnie Carter, stepson; Frank Jensen and his three brothers and his three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Peggy Davis Carter Son- Bruce (Lynn) Carter of Lighthouse Point, Fla. Granddaughter- Jennifer Stepson- Robert Jensen of Whittier A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday December 16 at Whittier United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Baxter officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm prior to the Service at the Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Genes name to the Whittier United Methodist Church, PO Box 668, Whittier, NC 28789 .
