Franz Peter Menge, 45 of Cashiers, NC passed away at the VA Medical Center on Sunday February 21st, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Atlanta, GA and raised in Rabun County GA, graduating from Rabun County High School. He served in the US Army and was present during the Persian Gulf War invasion in 1990.
He started in the construction business upon his return to Rabun County in 1994 and eventually brought his talents of home building to the Cashiers area, leading him to make Cashiers his home. Franz had a passion for life and thoroughly enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling and making new friends.
He is survived by his loving family; parents, Franz R. and Carole Menge, wife, Jeannie; daughters, Amberly Menge, Ashley Menge and Allie Menge; brother and friend, Joshua (Amy) Menge; sister, Meg(Gatha) Littleton, 2 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
He also leaves behind many wonderful close friends and extended family members, as well as his beloved dog, Little Girl.
Franz was cremated at Appalachian Crematorium in Sylva, NC and a celebration of his life will be on Saturday, March 5th at 10:30 am at Community Bible Church, 3645 Cashiers Rd. Highlands, NC 28741 - all are welcome to attend.
