Frances Grace Berry, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on January 23, 2024. She was born in Rome, Italy as Francesca Catalfano, on February 7, 1942. She came to the United States with her father in 1946. Fran was a kind-hearted woman who touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and selfless nature.
Fran led a fulfilling life dedicated to her family and community. Prior to moving to North Carolina with her husband in July of 2003, she worked as an administrative clerk in the Nevada Secretary of State's Office. Her commitment to excellence and dedication was evident in every task she pursued.
One of the greatest joys in Fran's life was her involvement in St. Marys Catholic Church in Sylva, NC. As an active member of the church community, she found solace and strength through her faith. Her unwavering devotion to God was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Frances will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Dr. Robert Berry. Their enduring love and partnership were a testament to the power of lifelong commitment. Her memory will also be cherished by her children: Dr. Thomas Berry (Victoria) of Stillwater, OK; Steve Berry (Shawna) of Duvall, WA; and Debbie Cundiff (Richard) of Tumwater, WA. Fran brought so much joy into their lives and leaves behind an irreplaceable void.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Salvatore and Camille (Villarealle) Catalfano; brothers Michael and Anthony, as well as her sister Laura. Their memories will forever be held close to the hearts of those who loved them.
In addition to her immediate family, Frances is survived by her brother Robert "Bob" Dean Catalfano (Marti) of Coos Bay, OR; sister, Sebastiana "Tina" McCaffrey of Henderson, NV; four adoring grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Frances' love extended beyond her immediate family, and she was a constant source of support and encouragement for all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
