. Florence "Flo" Veronica Piotrowski, nee Marcinkowski, 85, of Sylva, NC, winged her flight home on Sunday April 30. Born June 21, 1931, in Berlin, Wisconsin, she was preceded in death by husband Eugene and daughter Paula (Wood). Surviving Flo are children Michael (Spokane, WA), Peter (Jupiter Island, FL) Mark (New York, NY), and Sandra (Seibert) of Sylva. Also surviving Florence are; sister Mary and brother John. "Flo" has 12 grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Erika, Holly, Echo, Daniel, Jackson, Hien, Nicklas, Svetlana, Kevin, Peter, Steven, and Tom. Rounding out the family are three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends and relatives whom Flo cherished dearly.
Flo's life was an active one filled with love and humor, international travel, and a zest for adventure. Flo was talented in many ways, was an avid gardener, great cook, sang in St. Mary's choir, and was a self-taught artist (three of her paintings on permanent display in Sylva's downtown library). A retiree of the Internal Revenue Service, she was quick-witted, had an inquisitive mind, and enjoyed helping others no matter what. Very spirited and giving, she will be missed by many.
A memorial service to celebrate Flo's life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sylva on Saturday, May 27 at 11:00 a.m. A covered dish luncheon will follow
