Felix Barnes

Felix "Fred" Barnes, 72, of Sylva, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning May 16, 2023 after a period of declining health.
A native and a lifelong resident of Jackson County, Felix was the son of the late Willie and Deana Barnes
He was a member of Trout Creek Baptist Church and worked 33 years and retired from Jackson Paper.
He enjoyed sitting on his porch swing watching the birds and just spending time with his family. 
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his brother Melvin.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Linda Ashe Barnes
3 children; Chris (Allyson) Barnes of Bryson City
                    Cindy (Scott) Kinsey of Cashiers
                    Jennifer (Alan) Rhinehart of Cullowhee
8 Grandchildren; Jasmine, Jeanette and Aaron Rhinehart, Emily and Mason Barnes, Madison and Ashley Foster, and Hannah Stiwinter
5 Great Grandchildren
2 Brothers; Larry and Bruce Barnes also survive
A Memorial Service will be held 6:00 pm Friday evening May 19, 2023 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev Eddie Stillwell officiating.
