Everette E. Yake, age 96, of Tuckasegee died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at Mission Hospital in Ashville, NC. Everette was born December 13, 1916 in Findlay, OH. He is the son of the late Glenn Everette and the late Jessie (Bruce) Yake. Everette lived in Asheville most of his life, then lived the remaining 10 years in Tuckasegee, NC. He was a veteran of the Air Force having served as a waist gunner in World War II. He made 25 missions over Germany and was awarded numerous medals including a Purple Heart. He retired from the Railroad in 1975 and spent 20 Years working for the City of Asheville. He was of the Baptist faith and was baptized in 1989.
He is survived by his wife: Dorothy "Dot" (Broom) Yake, and by his nieces and great nieces and great nephews and his brother in laws.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 PM Monday December 31, 2012 at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva followed by the service at 2:00PM at the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Nations officiating
Burial will follow in Broom Cemetery, in Tuckasegee.
