Evelyn Jean Dotson, 72, of Sylva received her angel wings and was re-united with the love of her life, Terrell, on March 1, 2017.
Born in Bryson City, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Oliver Laws and Marie Medford Laws.
Mrs. Dotson retired early from Buster Brown and Goodson Garments. She spent the rest of her days taking care of her kids and grandkids. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church but also attended Balsam Baptist Church. She loved her family and her church families. She greeted everyone with a smile.
Mrs. Dotson was one of fourteen children. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Laws, Grayson Laws, and Eugene Laws; and three sisters, Penny Grimes, Grace Laxton, and Joyce Ann Taylor. Surviving are five sisters, Lucille Martin, Lexie Corbett, Catherine Medlin, Carolyn Laws, and Imogene Aleshire; two brothers, Jack Laws, and David" Buck" Laws. She has many nieces and nephews that she loved as her own.
Surviving in addition to her siblings are her two daughters, Beverly Stephens and Teresa "Dink" Shular (Roger); five grandkids, Laramie Stephens (Emily), Shay Gentry (Roger), Amber Stephens, LeNay Shular, and Trey Shular; and the two little fellers that were the light of her life, her great grandsons, Evan Owle and Garin Gentry.
There will be a time for viewing from 12 to 1:00 prior to the funeral service. This time is set aside for Evelyn's family and friends to say their goodbyes. The family would appreciate your visits before Monday or after the funeral service as they will not be present during the viewing time.
Funeral services will be held on Monday March 6, 2017 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services, with Rev. Mike Moore and Mike Dietz officiating, with burial following in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
