Evelyn Rose Barnes

Evelyn Rose Barnes, 84, of Sylva, NC, passed away peacefully with her family around her on March 13, 2022 in Asheville, NC.
Evelyn Barnes is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim Barnes; her children, Sandra Woodard and husband Morris of Whittier, NC, Dale Barnes and wife Linda of Mebane, NC, and David Barnes and wife Tina of Jefferson City, TN; her grandchildren, Luke, Jacob and Sarah Barnes; her brothers, Ernest Lee Hall, Isaac Hall, John Hall, Sam Hall, Alvin Hall, and her sister Wilma Mathis
Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother Jennings Hall and Jesse Hall
Evelyn was born on April 3, 1937, in her home on Sutton Branch in the Old Savannah community outside Dillsboro, NC. , to her parents Ralph and Della Hall. She married her husband, Jim Barnes, on January 25, 1957. Jim and Evelyn built a home together in the Rhodes Cove/Sunrise Park community in Sylva that same year and raised their 3 children there. The Barnes family still calls that house their home 65 years later. 
Evelyn was a loving wife and mother, dedicating herself to her family continually over the years, being a stay-at-home mother until all 3 children began attending school. She worked for the Buster Brown Company and Heritage Quilts as a seamstress in Sylva for many years. 
She attended Locust Field Baptist Church. 
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday March 15, 2022 at Locust Field Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am till 11:00 prior to the Service at the Church. Burial will be in Old Savannah Cemetery on Sutton Branch.
