Ernest Jacob Ammons

Ernest Jacob Ammons, Sr., age 82, of Cullowhee passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018. Ernest was born May 28, 1935 in Macon County.. A lifelong resident of Jackson County, he was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Cullowhee. He pastored numerous churches in WNC. Ernest was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Bessie Jean Mills Ammons, his father, Richard Ammons, his mother, Ruth Henry Ammons and a daughter. Willa Sue Ammons Rhinehart Williams. He had five sisters and six brothers. Survivors are his son, Earnest Jacob (Bug) Ammons, Jr. (Gayle); granddaughter, Linda Sue Rhinehart Robinson (Anthony); grandson, Patrick Eugene Williams; great grandchildren, Tyler Queen, Nathan and Lillian Marie Williams, Ashton (Justin) Payne and Layla Payne. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, January 22 in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services, 165 Skyland Drive, Sylva, NC with Rev. Buddy Ammons and Rev. Steve Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Hooper Cemetery On Caney Fork Road, Cullowhee The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
