Ella Mae Bridges Rogers, age 85, of Cullowhee, died Monday, November 17, 2014 at Med West Harris of Sylva, NC. Ella was born May 23, 1929 in Swain County. She is the daughter of the late Earnest Bridges and the late Emma Powell Mosley. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, William Rogers, a brother, James Lee Harris, and a daughter, Pat Rogers. She was employed as a housekeeper for Western Carolina University. Ella Mae was a wonderful cook and gardener, she loved all her many grandchildren, and enjoyed singing in church. She was a member of the AME Zion Church in Cullowhee and was a member of the NAACP redress committee. She is survived by three sons: Tommy of Waynesville, Dennis of Savannah, Ga, and Stanley of Cullowhee; one daughter, Cyritha West of Franklin; one sister, Joyce Mosley; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services of Sylva with Rev. Herbert Grant officiating The family will receive friends from noon until two. Burial will be in the AME Zion Church Cemetery in Cullowhee. . .
