Elizabeth Bridges Brooks, 88, of the Qualla Community, went home to be with the Lord and to reunite with her husband Coolidge, Tuesday August 23, 2022.
A native and a lifelong resident of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Taylor and Dialpha Sherrill Bridges.
Elizabeth was a Member of Olivet United Methodist Church and she loved to read her Bible. She enjoyed working at the flea market or planting her flowers and was very involved to get the Road to Nowhere in Swain County built. She was very interested in genealogy and would just cherish the time she had to share with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Coolidge; and siblings, Lewis, Charlie and Leroy Bridges, Mezilda Wiggins, and Bennie Johnston.
She is survived by her son, Ervin (Donna) Brooks of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Marilyn (Roger) Frizzell of Qualla; son, Marvin (Connie) Brooks of Sylva. 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ollie Bridges.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday August 27, 2022 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with family members officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am till 11:00 prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sherrill Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Qualla Fire Department and to the Staff at Skyland Care Center for their loving care of their mother.
