Edward Lewis Moss
May 6, 1945-Feb. 9, 2019
In the early 4'oclock hour of February 9, angels stepped out of Heaven to escort and welcome Edward Lewis Moss to his new home.
Known to many, mostly as "Lewis", but also "Hollywood", "Paps", "Dad", "Louie", brother and friend, he was a lover of the outdoors. Whether bear hunting, hog hunting, fishing, running his dogs, operating his backhoe or just driving along appreciating God's creations, Lewis was usually found outside.
Son of the late Herstel and Louise (Holland) Moss, Lewis was a native of Jackson County. He owned a successful backhoe business, raised a beautiful family, maintained many friendships and lived life with a smile and a zest for storytelling. Also adding to his many characteristics, Lewis had a genuine love for his daughters, brothers, sisters, friends, his girlfriend, and especially his grandchildren.
Although Lewis was a resident of North Carolina, his friends, who are considered "family" can also be found in Wisconsin, Virginia, South Carolina and Florida. He spent a lot of time impacting the lives of many with his laugh, stories, enthusiasm, joy and kindness. Due to the way Lewis lived and loved so largely, he will be terribly missed by many. Until the day we reunite in heaven, we will continue to keep his memories close to our hearts, because that's where he always kept us.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pine Creek Baptist Church at PO Box 1153, Cashiers, NC. 28717.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 5:30 pm at Appalachian Funeral Services in Sylva, NC., with Rev. Ralph Campbell and Rev. Aaron Langston officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 3:00 pm until 5:30 pm.
