Edna Mae Carl

Edna Mae Carl, 86, passed away Monday morning August 6, 2012 at Homestead Hospice Center in Clyde, NC. A fulltime resident of Tuckasegee the last 22 years, Edna had a residence here since 1964. Edna was born August 1, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Lillian Elizabeth Grassberger Snyder. She was raised in Junction City, Kansas where she met her late husband Clinton Edward Carl. After spending several years in Kansas and Nebraska, the family moved to South Florida, where Edna taught Business Administration at the local High School and Community Colleges. She is survived by 1 Son- Rodney Carl and his wife Penelope of Tuckasegee 3 Daughters- Diane Carl of Oregon, Deborah Mathis of Marble, NC and Michelle Bernard and her husband Andrew of Louisiana. 7 Grandchildren- Jason (Sarah), Brian, Doreen, Jacquelyn, Renee(Ryan), Michael and Angela 3 Great Grandchildren- Breanna, Sarah and Abigail A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 18, 2012 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Frankie Tunstall officiating. The family will receive friends from 11- 12:00 pm prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
