Edgar Burton "Bud" Shope

Edgar Burton "Bud" Shope, 82, of Franklin, NC, passed away September 15, 2024. He was born June 5, 1942, in Macon County, NC to the late Jess Edgar and Hattie Lorena Slagle Shope. 

Bud was a friend to all and most important he loved all people; he was a historian and loved family history. He loved to eat at the Normandie Restaurant and always had a smile. Bud was a long-haul trucker that traveled all over the United States; he also owned a radiator shop and was a very devoted Blue Dog Democrat.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Dawn Shope.

He is survived by his loving companion, Betsey Gooder, many cousins, friends and neighbors.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 till 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. A private burial will follow the service.

Though he is no longer with us, his spirt lives on in the bonds he created and the love he gave so freely. His memory will forever be a reminder of the profound impact one person can have on the lives of many."

In lieu of flowers the family would like folks to honor Mr. Bud's memory by buying a meal for someone who's hungry or by helping someone in need.
