Edgar Allen Ensley, age 74, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at Mountain View Manor Nursing Center after a long battle with Alzheimers. Born April 25th, 1938, he was the son of the late William A and Annie Lou Buchanan Ensley. Edgar served in the US Navy for four years on the USS Taussig, and returned to Jackson County where he remained a lifelong resident. He was employed as a licensed plumber for over 40 years. He enjoyed farming, carpentry and the outdoors. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathleen Ammons Ensley, two daughters, Patricia Ensley Sloan & husband Joseph, Karen Ensley, and one son Mark Ensley, as well as two grandchildren Seth and Kayla Sloan, all of Sylva. He is also survived by one brother Derrell Ensley, of Sylva and one sister, Geraldine Ensley Witt of Bethalto, Illinois. Services will be held at Appalachian Funeral Home with visitation on Sunday, January 6th from 6 to 8pm; the funeral will be held in the chapel on Monday, January 7th at 3pm with Reverend Charles Dean and Reverend Johnny Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Dills Cemetery. . .
