Dustin Scott Henry

Dustin Scott Henry, 42, of Sylva, passed away Sunday evening May 18, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. A native and a lifelong resident of Jackson County he was the son of Benny Henry and Connie Cowan Sutton. A carpenter by trade, he enjoyed working with wood, the Carolina Tar Heels and Tennessee football. But what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by a step-mother, Tina Henry. In addition to his parents he is survived by His Wife Debra Cumbie Henry; 2 Sons- Blake and Colby Henry both of Sylva; 1 Stepson- Matthew Cumbie; 3 Sisters- Deirdre Martin, Monica Parton both of Sylva and Jessica Webb of Clyde, a step father, Roger Sutton and a step-sister, Valerie Myers; Grandfather- Lloyd Cowan; and a Grandmother- Louise Henry. A Memorial Service will be held 7:00 pm Thursday May 22 in the Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Services with the Rev. Michael Lee officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:00 prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. .
