Dr. Thomas Clinton Wilson

Thomas Clinton Wilson, M.D., age 85 of Cullowhee NC, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, October 29, 2023.   He was born on March 10, 1938, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Jack Bennett and Eunice Misner Wilson.

Thomas was a local Family Practice physician with an office on East Fork Road in Sylva. He received his bachelor’s degree at Indiana University in 1961; his master’s degree at Florida State University in 1965; and his MD at the Indiana School of Medicine in 1969.  His extensive medical experience included his Internship at Tampa General Hospital; almost 30 years in private family practice in Bradenton FL; and locally, a brief period in Franklin NC at the Center for Family Medicine and over 20 years of solo practice in Sylva.

The doctor was also active as a Diplomate of the American Academy of Family Practice and has been Board Certified from 1978-2006.  He has had many business investments over the years, including Founder of LW Blake Memorial Hospital (1973), West Coast Self Storage, Ltd. (1979); Manatee Medical Laboratory – Founding Director (1986), Manatee Medical Imagine – Founding Director (1987), American Medical Diagnostics – Founding Director (1988), Medical Associates of America Pharmacy – (1994), and the Bay Area Medical Group – Founding Director (1994-96).  Tom went to 74 Indianapolis 500 races which continued a family tradition.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Cynthia Ann (Wade) Wilson; six children, James (Risa) of Alpharetta, GA, Jeffrey (Kerri) of Bradenton, FL, Matthew (Autumn) of Schertz, TX, Jodi of Jacksonville, FL, Chris (Catie) of Martinez, GA, and Jason (Tally) of Evans, GA,  two brothers, John Bennett Wilson and Richard Misner Wilson, both of Indiana; twelve grandchildren, Danielle, Ashlen, Mac, Madeleine (Justin), Quinn, Ella, Miles, Lily, Hudson, Aiden, Haddie, and Hannah; several nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nancy Nell (Wilson) Celebi (Arif).

A Memorial Service for Thomas was held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Webster Baptist Church, Webster Road, Sylva NC., with Pastor Scott Carter, officiating.
