Doyle Allen Shular, age 87, of Locust Creek Rd, passed away peacefully at his home on February 3, 2025, after an extended illness. Born September 21, 1937 on Caney Fork, Doyle lived a life rooted in the land he loved. He spent many years working as a logger and handyman and was known for his strong work ethic. Throughout his life, Doyle held a special place in his heart for cattle and his little feist dogs, which always brought him joy.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Winton and Vena Price Shular. He was additionally preceded in death by his brothers, Jim, Clinton, David, Carlton, AB, and Eldon Shular and sisters Sally Henson, Agnes and Eulala Shular.
Suriving is his wife of 65 years, Jean, his brother Prelo, two sons, Roger (Teresa) and Gary, grandkids Shay Gentry (Roger), LeNay, Trey, Cyrus and Keri, and great grandkids Garin, Kylie, Addison and Ridge and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Appalachian Funeral Services with Reverend Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow in Balsam Grove Cemetery, Cullowhee. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 pm - 2 pm.
Pallbearers are Trey Shular, Cyrus Shular, Roger Gentry, Garin Gentry, Darrell Shuler, Terry Shular, Ronnie Shuler, Donnie Shuler, Travis Coggins and Jason Gregory.
