Dorothy Anne Potts

Dorothy Anne Bryson Potts, born on May 2,1943 to Bedford and Irene Bryson, passed away from a long battle with dementia on Wednesday, February 12,2025. A visitation will be held at Appalachian Funeral Services on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 1pm-2pm with a memorial service to follow at 2pm. 

Dorothy married Jay Lee Potts on February 15, 1967 and was a devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother.

Although her life started and ended in the mountains that she loved, Dorothy also lived in Ohio, Alaska, Wyoming and New Mexico. Dorothy loved this country and with family members in tow, they traveled and vacationed in many locations. 

Dorothy graduated in 1961 from Glenville High. She loved her family dearly and would do anything for them. She also enjoyed growing flowers and playing rummy. On a quiet winter day you could find her reading a book, watching jewelry television shows or even baking one of her favorite chocolate cakes.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Bedford and Irene Bryson, her loving husband Jay Lee Potts, her grandparents Violet and Ransom Coggins, Iva Bryson Coggins and step-grandfather Houston Coggins, her grandchildren Kevin Martinez and Keith Kinard. Dorothy is survived by her sister Opal Douglas, brothers Ray Bryson (Peggy) and Bruce Bryson, her children Vickie Chavez, Katie Griffith and Eddie Potts as well as her grandchildren, Lisa Kinard, Adam Chavez, Christian and Kortnie Chavez and Allie Potts.
